Rockstarinon: The Rock
star
Once
upon a time in a land called Musicania there lived a boy called Noni. Like all
Musicanians, Noni liked music. But he was a strange boy. He often did things
backward. He didn’t try to, it just came naturally.
Many
of the Musicanians played the violin. It was their favourite instrument. Noni
wanted to be like the others, so he tried to play the violin too, but he just
couldn’t hold it correctly, and he couldn’t get his hands around the bow correctly.
One
day, Noni got frustrated with his violin so he threw it on the ground, breaking
his bow and instrument. Feeling guilty for his outburst, he tried to put his
poor instrument back together again. He brought it up to his belly and sadly
strummed the newly tied strings. It made a strangely pleasing sound. Intrigued,
he continued to play. He got very excited. After working more to correct the
sounds coming out, he was finally able to make a good sound. This was the first
time Noni had ever been able to do something right.
A
group of boys passed by Noni just as he struck up his best song. The boys were
amazed at the sound and cheered him loudly. They ran and got the governor of
Musicania to come listen. The governor declared Noni a musical sensation. Everyone
in Musicania loved Noni’s new form of music. Even the Gods were pleased.
When
Noni died fifty-seven years later, the Gods declared him one of their own and
decided to place a picture of him in the stars. When they asked him what he
wanted it to be called he stated. “It must be named after me. Call
it…Rockstarinon!” The Gods did not even question his backward name. And it was
so.
