326. Liahona

When I woke, the desert sun
Was slowly breaking ground.
I dressed and opened my tent flap
And there a ball I found.

The brassy orb lay glittering
And glinting from the sun.
It's craftsmanship like none I'd seen,
From He, the Mighty One.

Two spindles spinning round the globe
Gave direction sure,
But only if we obeyed Him
And showed our hearts were pure.

To my amazed family
The ball was frightening
But I had faith it came from God,
It's presence brightening.

So now we follow faithfully
This little globe of brass,
Except when my first son revolts
And proves he is a sass.
