280. Blackberry Winter

Strolling through the garden white,
Gazing past the hapless night,
Chilly in the glinting light,
Smell the blackberry winter.

Moonlight glinting off the trees,
Fragrance lifted on the breeze,
Children squealing jollities,
Hear the blackberry winter.

Fingers twined to warm the heart,
Time forgotten long apart,
Endings now which have no start,
Feel the blackberry winter.

Trials melted by the frost,
Loving, healing, never lost,
Bittersweet the paths that crossed,
Taste the blackberry winter.

Echoes of eternal glow
Casting shadows on the snow
Ringing forth the volley's lo,
See the blackberry winter.

Hope and heaven's graceful shine
Leading, guiding toward the shrine,
Bring back what once was mine,
Comes the blackberry winter.
